Our late sensei, Steve Kenton, was always very passionate about a training tournament for kids and teens. He always wanted to make sure that there was a tournament that would be a good time to teach those interested in how to run a tournament, whether it’s helping set up brackets, run tables, coach players, or for new referees.
After Steve passed away in the spring of 2024, Sooner Judo Club in collaboration with his family agreed to hold a tournament in his memory that would align with teaching judo the way he always loved.
The third annual Steve Kenton Memorial will be held at the First Baptist Church in Arcadia on March 28, 2026.
We will be posting this tournament on Smoothcomp to allow for pre-registration and as a learning opportunity to learn how to run events through this system. There will be a discount for early registration up to the day before the event.
